| My
name is Laura Mitchell and I am a mother of two wonderful boys. I have always
enjoyed working with children over the past 12 years. I
have always been committed to providing them with a safe and secure environment,
in which they have the confidence and the freedom to develop. I qualified in
1997 as a nursery nurse and have worked in many childcare settings over the
years. Although each place was different and the children’s needs and
abilities were very varied, I found that no matter the age, ability or
background, singing, dancing and having fun played an integral role in
all of these children’s lives and had a huge impact on how
they developed and learned.
I decided to start Songs Galore in 2008 as I had been talking about doing it for a few years. I couldn't find anything out there that provided a varied and enjoyable experience for my son. we tried different groups but he couldn't sit still for 35 mins and he lost interest easily as children do at 18 months. but I was embarrassed when he wandered off and didn't join in. So the idea was born and has slowly developed into a music and activity group, we have songs, instruments and props and each week we have craft and colouring activities. Also there are books to explore and other things to do, some times we have building brick or balls and hoops. I now have 4 local groups and do 2 private nursery session and love every minute of it, I am able to take my wee boy along to most groups and he loves it and has made great friends. He joins in most days but some days he sits and watches or just runs around but that's what kids do at 3 years old. Songs Galore is just a wee bit different and I listen to parents and children and each group is very relaxed and friendly. So come along and see what its all about!
